Apacs launches gambling debt guide

Gambling has surged in popularity through the easy access to internet sites paid for by credit cards, but many struggle with debt management.

Sandra Quinn, director of communications at Apacs, said: “Credit and debit card issuers aren’t there to tell people how to spend their money – but we can help inform people about their choices.

“This guide is about giving cardholders the information they need to take responsible decisions about their money when gambling online.”

The government is currently reforming Britain’s laws as part of its aim to make the UK the global centre of gambling.

While this is meant to be matched with laws to help people cope with gambling debt management, this is not the only way people can rack up bills.

Fraud can occur and Ms Quinn urges people to check their security carefully and read statements.
