Consumers urged to keep up bank charges battle

Consumer campaign publication Which? claims that despite the recent court case victory for Lloyds TSB in a dispute regarding overdraft charges, contesting banks over these kinds of issues remains a worthwhile pursuit.

Indeed, Which? insists that the ruling made at the Birmingham County Court does not set a precedent that would see all attempts by consumers to reclaim their bank charges fail.

Personal finance campaigner at Which? Emma Bandey commented: “People shouldn’t be scared or worried about continuing with their claim or indeed starting one.

“Keep reclaiming those charges and if you experience any problems, go to the Financial Ombudsman Service.”

A survey carried out by the independent personal finance website Fool.co.uk last month found that Lloyds TSB was second only to HSBC in a list of the most trusted banking groups in Britain.
