One of the most recognisable names in personal finance in Wales has appointed a new chief executive.

Nemo Personal Finance is part of the Principality Building Society and has announced that Alan Jarman will take over as the new head of its board of directors.

Although the announcement that a change would be taking place was initially met with some surprise, the revelation that it is Mr Jarman who will take over has raised few eyebrows – especially given that he had already taken charge of its parent company earlier this year.

Mr Jarman took over the company's board having gathered a wealth of experience in the banking and finance sector. He was the chief executive of HSBC in Wales and Poland, and has previously headed financial institutions in ten different countries across the world.

It is hoped that this will see him introduce a new cultured approach that will be suited to the pressures of the globalised modern world and drive the company in the right direction.

Former chief executive Guy Thomas retired from his role last Friday (October 31st) after becoming a long-established name at Nemo Personal Finance.

Mr Jarman spoke about some of the changes that lie ahead for the firms given new directives that are on the way from Europe, describing the current day as an "exciting time".

He said: "This is an exciting and interesting time to be joining Nemo. Regulation within the secured loans industry is currently undergoing significant change and it will continue to do so as we implement the European Mortgage Credit Directive.

"I look forward to driving this change with my team at Nemo, ensuring we offer competitive products and a market leading customer-centric service proposition."

He went on to discuss the legacy that has been created by Mr Thomas, stating that he would not only keep the rich history and ingrained culture of the company alive, but also build upon the brands sterling reputation in providing high quality and genuine debt management solutions.
