New year, new start

As we enter into 2010, there seems to be some relief, at last, for those desperate to get onto the properly ladder.

Turned off by knock backs from the banks and lenders, first time buyers may now have the support they need to finally take the plunge in finding a home after 12 months of steering clear due to the high risk involved with such a purchase.

With repossessions expected to total 48,000 by the end of the year, it’s not surprising people have been scared off.  Playing house just wouldn’t be the same if it meant a few months down the line, with an unexpected redundancy, and a few missed mortgage payments, you lost everything you’d worked for.

But now, first time buyers finally get a fighting chance as mortgage products reach the highest ever available – totalling 1,354 variations.

Although the stamp duty break is due to end in January – a stay of execution has been granted to those purchasing houses under the value of £175,00 – a lucky break for anyone wanting to buy in the New Year.

Although many might not be in their new homes for Christmas, I should think it will prove to be a very cosy Valentine’s by February!
