The Wellspring: Cooking for charity

On Wednesday night a team made up of Supervisory and Marketing headed to The Wellspring, a homeless resource centre, to help prepare and serve dinner for over 100 people living on the streets or in temporary accommodation.

Help and advice

Our advisors were also on hand to offer practical money and debt advice to the attendees. During the course of the night a steady stream of vulnerable people made use of this vital lifeline.

They were provided with a welcome respite from the weather and for some the only hot meal they will receive all day.  Jacqueline Cohen, Group Marketing Manager for ClearDebt says of the experience,

Volunteering at the Wellspring was an incredible experience…and as one colleague told me, humbling. It was great to learn more about the centre and meet the people they help on a daily basis. We are all so often consumed with the day to day occurrences of our own lives and pressures. Taking time out to be at the Wellspring helps bring focus whilst making a genuine difference to others people’s lives.

Future dates are already in the calendar and we will also be organising a food and clothes collection.

The Wellspring is entirely dependent on volunteers and donations to remain open; this makes the contribution by the team last night and the teams scheduled for future dates invaluable.
