IPA announces new debt forum

Training and regulation will be offered by the DRF to its members, which will promise to give suitable advice to their clients, make charges transparent and keep a watchful eye over the content of advertisements, reports Accountancy Age.

Chris Holmes, chairman of the DRF, said the body will “drive professional standards, quality advice by members and individual and fair solutions for both debtors and creditors”.

He added: “Our objective is to ensure that all our members are seen as trusted partners in the personal debt resolution process.”

The creation of the forum follows a website that was launched last month designed to regulate the IVA industry on an informal basis.

Managed by several lawyers and accountants, IVA.com posts online feedback about IVA firms and other insolvency practitioners.
