UK takes money worries to heart
The latest Personal Credit Index from CreditExpert shows that a quarter of UK couples argue about money, with at least two million relationships falling apart in recent months because of this issue.
Research also shows that 18 to 34-year-olds are the most likely members of society to fall out with their partners over spending.
Jim Hodgkins, managing director of CreditExpert, commented: “The Index underlines just how many couples in Britain argue, and in some cases split up, over their finances.
“If you feel worried about your level of borrowing, then your partner will pick up on it and feel worried too.”
The good news is that the number of people either confident or very confident that they can pay credit and store card bills on time increased from 83 per cent to 86 per cent in the last quarter.
This is despite the fact that one in five Brits with debts of least £10,000 would either consider bankruptcy or an individual voluntary arrangement, according to a new study by debt firm Thomas Charles.
