Citizens Advice calls for Brits to get more financial help
The Citizens Advice charity has called for more generic financial information services to be offered in the UK.
An initiative being carried out by the organisaiton in collaboration with independent financial advisors (IFAs) from around the country has seen considerable demand from consumers for the kind of generic advice that is not currently widely available.
The charity, which deals with thousands people with debt management problems each week, is convinced that consumers would benefit considerably from freely-available financial advice.
Jackie Nowell, head of partnership development for Citizens Advice, said: “The range of issues presented to the IFAs is broad, but it appears that there is particular demand from those who may own their own homes, but have low incomes.
“This evidence emphasises that there is a gap in provision which needs to be addressed.”
Last month, Citizens Advice urged UK consumers not to leave themselves with a new year debt management hangover to deal with by overspending during Christmas.
