Abbey launches “essential items” credit card
Abbey has launched a new credit card targeted at those struggling to make ends meet during the economic downturn.
The new card offers holders three per cent cashback on “essential items” such as petrol and groceries for the first three months, as well as zero per cent on balance transfers for nine months.
Those struggling with debt management during the credit crunch may be interested in the new promotion, which Abbey has stated will help customers meet the increasing cost of living.
“Families need all the help they can get to cover the cost of their weekly shopping essentials – which is why we developed this cashback card,” managing director of Abbey Credit Cards Roger Lovering remarked.
The bank recently announced it is to seek the advice of the Consumer Credit Counselling Service to offer a free service to customers who are having difficulty meeting their mortgage payments and are worried about repossession.
