Couples ‘avoiding financial issues’

Couples around the country are avoiding financial issues that could be crucially im portent as their relationship progresses, it has been suggested.

A partner’s debt management past can be a significant factor in whether a couple is accepted for a mortgage loan but 81 per cent of British adults have never asked their other half about their credit history, according to MoneyExpert.co.uk.

In addition, the results of a poll by the credit report provider indicated that more than one in five UK consumers would be willing to end their relationship if their partner’s debt management disasters impacted their own life.

“In the run up to Valentine’s Day, we are all encouraged to spend money,” remarked Jim Hodgkins, managing director for CreditExpert.co.uk.

“Good financial management can help couples keep their debts and credit agreements under control.”

A report from PayPal recently suggested that Britons are set to spend a collective total of around £1.6 billion on their loved-ones this Valentine’s Day.
