‘Demand growing’ for redundancy advice

A growing number of people are seeking redundancy help from Citizens Advice, new figures released by the body have revealed.

The numbers show that since April this year, bureaux across England and Wales have seen a 125 per cent increase in the number of daily enquiries relating to redundancy, equating to 425 people per day last month.

And demand for guidance on Job seekers Allowance is also on the up, rising by 66 per cent in the same time period.

“If you are struggling to pay bills as a result of redundancy it’s vitally important to speak to your lenders straight away,” chief executive of Citizens Advice David Harker stated – advice which those looking for debt help may also wish to consider.

Citizens Advice recently issued a number of tips to help consumers avoid debt over Christmas, including urging shoppers to not rely on an overdraft to make their purchases.
