Energy price hikes ‘unfair’

The rises in energy prices for consumers in the UK have been described as unfair by an industry watchdog, it has emerged.

With millions of people already dealing with debt management problems around the country, experts expect to see energy bills rise over the next few months and energywatch has suggested the suppliers could have avoided the increases.

In light of the expected price rises, the organisation has urged consumers to “wait until the dust settles” before deciding whether or not to switch their gas and electricity suppliers.

“High energy prices mean inflation pressure on the economy, overstretched household budgets and thousands more households added to the four million already in fuel poverty in the UK,” said a spokesperson from energywatch.

MoneyFacts.co.uk recently urged indebted Britons to consider their options carefully before entering a particular debt consolidation loan agreement.
