Students get new debt resource

A new web-based resource has been made available to students around the UK who are looking to graduate with a reduced debt management burden.

The WealthyStudent website has been launched by one such individual, Steve Burford, who is at the Southampton Solent University and is keen to encourage his fellow young consumers to avoid having “horrific” debts when they graduate.

Mr Burford maintains that students should be able leave university without having already accumulated a significant debt burden and his website offers tips on how to make this a reality.

“WealthyStudent has been designed and developed as a backlash against rising student debts and a declining economy,” he said.

The website also criticises government policies that have led to students borrowing money to the extent they currently do.

Earlier this week, Samantha Owens, head of personal finance at Moneyfacts, said that defaults on student loans ought to be included within a credit report as is now the increasingly the case.
