Teachers to get finance education

Linking up with the Financial Services Authority (FSA), Teachers’ TV will show the Financial Capability programme to build up confidence in money matters for educators and to aid teaching of personal finance.

Commenting on the launch of the new series, Vernon Everitt, director of retail themes for the FSA, said: “This collaboration with Teachers’ TV is an excellent way in which to support the government’s strategy of raising the status and profile of personal finance education in schools.

“Helping teachers feel capable and confident in delivering lessons on practical financial matters is a key element in ensuring that tomorrow’s adults can manage their finances well.”

Launch of the programme follows growing demand that schools include personal finance and debt management in lessons to help educate Britons about their spending.

Otherwise, there are fears that the rising rate of Individual Voluntary Arrangements (IVAs) and bankruptcy will increase as financial ignorance leads to debt.
