Women selling own eggs to clear debt

According to the BBC report, young women are selling their eggs to donors to help clear debt and are advertising this on the internet.

“I’m 25 and I’ve got three jobs – one in an office in the day, two in pubs. I work five nights a week, I’m in quite a bit of debt and I just want to get it paid off really,” Alexandra Saunders told the report.

“I’m not using them so, if someone else can, it would be good and also clear me out of a hole too,” she added.

Laura Witzens, a spokeswoman for the National Gamete Donation Trust, said that many young women owed money and were selling eggs to clear debt.

News that women are selling their eggs as a form of debt solution comes as a Sesame report found that women were 139 per cent more in debt than men.
