Former clients of Smooth Financial still have unanswered questions

Any former client of Smooth Financial will qualify for a free Debt Management Plan with ClearDebt

Despite a lack of further information regarding Smooth Financial going into administration, it seems there are more questions than answers right now.

Why are there no further statements or information on the case of Smooth Financial?

We’ve seen comments on the Smooth Financial Facebook page where clients are asking why the phones at the Smooth office are going unanswered – indicating many Smooth clients are still unaware of the current situation. Until now, ClearDebt has been the only company on social networks such as Facebook to offer advice to these people and to try and address their worries with accurate and up to date information.

There are still rumours about missing funds from the Clients’ account

Whilst everyone continues to search for information it seems lips are tightly sealed across the industry on whether the rumours of missing funds from the Clients account are true or not?

Well we can tell you now that there is a shortfall which is quite substantial.

As news breaks that Money Expert have bought the Smooth Financial client database we wonder if they know anything and if so, when they’ll be able to share that news with the rest of us?  Will they (as ClearDebt offered to do) make up the massive shortfall that will otherwise hit hundreds, maybe thousands, of clients?  It is noteworthy that they have not mentioned that at all in their first pronouncement.

Free Debt Management Plans for Smooth Financial clients

It’s unknown whether Money Expert will still be asking former clients of Smooth Financial to enter into a Debt Management Plan with them which will have standard fees applied.  On hearing the news last week about Smooth Financial, ClearDebt were the first company within the industry to offer free Debt Management Plans to all former clients of Smooth Financial, where a Debt Management Plan continues to be the most appropriate solution.  Following in our footsteps, several other debt solution companies have made similar offers, however most seem to only waive the initial set up fees rather than the monthly administration fees.

Smooth Financial clients who enter a Debt Management Plan with ClearDebt or with our sister company, Abacus, will pay nothing in fees, ever and their creditors will get every penny from each contribution they make.  This is a fantastic offer and opportunity for all of those Smooth Financial Clients who have been treated dastardly.

More information?

Whilst we are unsure as to when more information will be released, our advisors are available to help on our dedicated phone line 0161 905 5665.  We will continue to keep you updated as news comes in.

REMEMBER: Any former client of Smooth Financial will qualify for a free Debt Management Plan with ClearDebt (if this is the most appropriate solution for you). This means there will be NO upfront fees AND we will waive all ongoing fees normally charged with such plans.

  1. I’ve just seen this story from Credit Today – http://bit.ly/132XVrH – which says Money Expert have bought Smooth and taken over the bank account.

Were I a Smooth Financial client I would ask Money Expert whether they:

    • Have taken on the liabilities (ie any missed payments that should have been made to your creditors?)

    • Whether they know if your plan is up to date and if all payments have been made?

    • What fees they will be charging you going forward? (if you opt for a ClearDebt DMP and can show you were a Smooth customer will charge you no fees, ever)
