Brits ‘sticking with’ financial resolutions

British consumers have general been able to maintain the financial resolutions they made at the beginning of the new year, according to recent research.

In fact, a study by Unbiased.co.uk has shown that while a quarter of all new year resolutions have already been abandoned, the same can only be said for 18 per cent of those associated with personal finance or debt management.

Almost of a fifth of all adults in the UK resolved to work towards a DEBT SOLUTION in 2008 and millions of people around the country have turned to independent advisors in recent weeks to help them achieve this goal, the latest figures have indicated.

David Elms, chief executive of Unbiased.co.uk, said: “It is encouraging to see how many people intend to get their finances in order in 2008, however it is all too easy to let good intentions go to waste.”

Meanwhile, the Council of Mortgage Lenders has predicted that the rate of home repossessions in the UK will increase over the course of this year.
