New financial education service launched

Friends Provident – a life and pensions company – has launched a new financial education programme aimed at helping employees manage their money more effectively.

The service, Friends my money and me, will be made available to staff through the workplace and offers a range of independent and impartial modules to assist workers.

National employee communications manager at the organisation Neil Hawkins observed that people are not consistently rational regarding decision-making in money matters.

“Our new materials are designed to counteract negative behaviours such as inertia, over-confidence and herd mentality,” he said.

Workshops focusing on money management, retirement planning and benefits can be found online, which employees can access at their own convenience.

Firms can adapt the service to meet their workforce’s needs so as to find ways which best suit their learning styles.

In related news, it was recently suggested by Nicky Goulder of charity Create that if people are not educated about financial management in their younger years, they could be at greater risk of suffering from debt problems later on in life.
